The Coast Guard said Friday that its investigation showed the 71-foot dragger Costa & Corvo capsized and sank quickly, killing 57-year-old Antonio Mesquita. Another fishing boat rescued three other crew members. The boat sank Nov. 13, 2008, about 118 miles east of Nantucket on Georges Bank. It currently rests in 120 feet of water.

Guardians medevaced a hunter off of Burnt Mountain in Oregon yesterday. A helicopter from Air Station North Bend was deployed to rescue the man who had an injured leg and bring him to a local hospital. Local law enforcement assisted Guardians in the rescue of two German divers off the coast of Sanibel Island, Florida.

The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Key Biscayne repatriated twelve Dominican migrants to La Romana, Dominican Republic Friday, following an at-sea interdiction by Caribbean Border Interagency Group (CBIG) Law Enforcement authorities Thursday. The crew of the Key Biscayne detained one Dominican man for attempting to enter illegally into the U.S. o r a U.S. territory on at least one other separate occasion. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Puerto Rico accepted the case and is pursuing prosecution.

The Coast Guard has called off the search to find a body that was reported in the waters off South Whidbey. "The actual search has been suspended," Coast Guard Petty Officer David Marin said Thursday afternoon. The Coast Guard received a report at 9:43 a.m.

Though last year's 26/11 terror attacks are generally known with the prefix of Mumbai, very few now remember that the first victims of the sinister plot were fishermen from Porbandar in western coast of Gujarat. Three fishermen from Porbandar were killed and thrown into the sea by terrorists who had hijacked the fishing boat Kuber for their journey towards Mumbai. After reaching the Mumbai coastline, the terrorists had killed the boat's captain too.

The Coast Guard rescued four people from a grounded 35-foot boat on the north Port Aransas jetty, Wednesday evening. A watchstander at Coast Guard Station Port Aransas received a telephone call from the owner of the Ciao Bella at 6:33 p.m., reporting his boat was aground on the north jetty. Station Port Aransas dispatched a 25-foot Response Boat-Medium to assist the boaters.
